I was call out to inspect a manufactured home roof 2000 yr gable 3 tab 3 12 slope for insurance reasons.
2 roof layers on manufactured home.
There are a few things that you should consider about asphalt shingles.
I found that the first 1 to 2 feet from facial board on the west side was rotten.
Others roofing experts have told me they won t do it on any manufactured home.
Shingles asphalt shingles come in two major types 3 tab and architectural.
3 tabs are less expensive but also less durable have lower wind resistance and have a flatter appearance.
Can anybody comment on this or better yet give me the hud requirements.
When a buyer is purchasing a home their homeowner s insurance carrier will inquire about the age of the roof and the number of layers.
Additionally it prevents wind driven rain from getting under your shingles and causing damage to your roof structure or the inside of your home.
There seems to be a split in opinion on layering the new shingles over the old.
The home is 14ft wide and doesn t a long roof span on each side.
Yup too much weight.
Thanks for any help.
Considering the fact that most manufactured homes have smaller sized lumber for roof rafters and then probably 1 2 or less thickness for roof decking plywood or o s b i would not add anymore weight to the roof.
The roof seems to be solid and the home is taken care of.
I m looking for any other explanations to explain this.
Has anyone come across this on a mh.
Two layers is usually all they do.
It a appears to be from wicking back under the shingles.
2 roof layers on manufactured home statements were made that multiple roof layers are not allowed on these structures.
Some day you are at home depot try picking up just one bundle of shingles and you will realize how many thousands of pounds of shingles you have on your roof.
Will this ad too much weight to the roof structure.
On site built homes two or three layers of shingles are acceptable but on a mobile home only one layer is permissible.
If the roof has multiple layers typically the insurance company will only insure the top layer.
